OCS Email Port Change Instructions

Eudora

  1. Open Eudora
  2. Click on the "Tools" menu at the top
  3. Click on "Options"
  4. Click on "Sending Mail" to the left
  5. Check the box for "Allow authentication"
  6. Check the box for "Use submission port 587"

Outlook Express/Outlook 2000

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Click on the "Tools" menu at the top
  3. Click on "Accounts" (or "Services" then Accounts)
  4. Click on the "Mail tab"
  5. Highlight your email account
  6. Click on "Properties" to the right
  7. Click on the "Servers" tab
  8. Check the box for "Outgoing server requires authentication"
  9. Click on "More settings" and check Same settings as incoming
  10. Click on the "Advanced" tab
  11. Change the outgoing port number from 25 to 587

Outlook 2002/2003

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Click on the "Tools" menu at the top
  3. Click on "Email Accounts"
  4. Click on the "View or change existing e-mail accounts"
  5. Click "Next"
  6. Highlight your email account
  7. Click "Change..."
  8. Click on "More settings"
  9. Click on the "Servers" tab
  10. Check the box for "Outgoing server requires authentication" (same settings as incoming)
  11. Click on the "Advanced" tab
  12. Change the outgoing port number from 25 to 587

Outlook 2007

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Click on the "Tools" menu at the top
  3. Click on "Account Settings"
  4. Click on the "E-mail tab"
  5. Highlight your email account
  6. Click "Change..."
  7. Click on "More settings"
  8. Click on the "Outgoing Server" tab
  9. Check the box for "Outgoing server requires authentication" (same settings as incoming)
  10. Click on the "Advanced" tab
  11. Change the outgoing port number from 25 to 587

Windows Mail

  1. Open Windows Mail
  2. Click on the "Tools" menu at the top
  3. Click on "Accounts"
  4. Highlight your email account
  5. Click on "Properties" to the right
  6. Click on the "Servers" tab
  7. Check the box for "Outgoing server requires authentication"
  8. Click on "More settings" and check Same settings as incoming
  9. Click on the "Advanced tab"
  10. Change the outgoing port number from 25 to 587

Thunderbird

  1. Open Thunderbird
  2. Click on the "Tools" menu at the top
  3. Click on "Account Settings"
  4. Click on "Outgoing Server SMTP"
  5. Highlight "smtp.ocsnet.net"
  6. Click "Edit"
  7. Change the port number from 25 to 587
  8. Check the box for "Use name and password" and enter your email user name

Mac OSX 10.4.X

  1. Open apple mail
  2. Click on Preferences under "mail" in upper left hand corner of screen
  3. Email = Your user name @ocsnet.net
  4. Full name = Your full name
  5. Incoming mail server = mail.ocsnet.net
  6. Username = Your user name @ocsnet.net
  7. Password = Your Password
  8. Click on arrows at end of "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
  9. Select "Edit Server List"
  10. Enter "smtp.ocsnet.net" in Outgoing Mail Server box
  11. Enter "587" in server port window.
  12. Click on arrows at right of Authentication box and select "Password"
  13. Enter your user name and password
  14. Click on "OK"
  15. Close next window by clicking on red button in upper left of screen.
  16. Test system by sending a message to yourself

Mac OSX 10.5.X

  1. Open apple mail
  2. Click on Preferences under "mail" in upper left hand corner of screen
  3. Email = Your user name @ocsnet.net
  4. Full name = Your full name
  5. Incoming mail server = mail.ocsnet.net
  6. Username = Your user name @ocsnet.net
  7. Password = Your Password
  8. Click on arrows at end of "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
  9. Select "Edit Server List"
  10. Enter "smtp.ocsnet.net" in Outgoing Mail Server box
  11. Click on "Advanced" at center, right
  12. Click on "Use Custom Port: and enter 587
  13. Click on arrows at right of Authentication box and select "Password"
  14. Enter your user name and password
  15. Click on "OK"
  16. Close next window by clicking on red button in upper left of screen.
  17. Test system by sending a message to yourself
