OCS Email Port Change Instructions
Eudora
- Open Eudora
- Click on the "Tools" menu at the top
- Click on "Options"
- Click on "Sending Mail" to the left
- Check the box for "Allow authentication"
- Check the box for "Use submission port 587"
Note: In some versions of Eudora Step 6 may not exist. Try looking in your Program Files > Qualcomm > Eudora > ExtraStuff folder. If there's a file named "esoteric.epi", copy it to the next level up (Eudora) and close and restart Eudora. Repeat Steps 2-5 above, then scroll down to the "Ports" option at the bottom and enter 587 for SMTP.
Outlook Express/Outlook 2000
- Open Outlook
- Click on the "Tools" menu at the top
- Click on "Accounts" (or "Services" then Accounts)
- Click on the "Mail tab"
- Highlight your email account
- Click on "Properties" to the right
- Click on the "Servers" tab
- Check the box for "Outgoing server requires authentication"
- Click on "More settings" and check Same settings as incoming
- Click on the "Advanced" tab
- Change the outgoing port number from 25 to 587
Outlook 2002/2003
- Open Outlook
- Click on the "Tools" menu at the top
- Click on "Email Accounts"
- Click on the "View or change existing e-mail accounts"
- Click "Next"
- Highlight your email account
- Click "Change..."
- Click on "More settings"
- Click on the "Servers" tab
- Check the box for "Outgoing server requires authentication" (same settings as incoming)
- Click on the "Advanced" tab
- Change the outgoing port number from 25 to 587
Outlook 2007
- Open Outlook
- Click on the "Tools" menu at the top
- Click on "Account Settings"
- Click on the "E-mail tab"
- Highlight your email account
- Click "Change..."
- Click on "More settings"
- Click on the "Outgoing Server" tab
- Check the box for "Outgoing server requires authentication" (same settings as incoming)
- Click on the "Advanced" tab
- Change the outgoing port number from 25 to 587
Windows Mail
- Open Windows Mail
- Click on the "Tools" menu at the top
- Click on "Accounts"
- Highlight your email account
- Click on "Properties" to the right
- Click on the "Servers" tab
- Check the box for "Outgoing server requires authentication"
- Click on "More settings" and check Same settings as incoming
- Click on the "Advanced tab"
- Change the outgoing port number from 25 to 587
Thunderbird
- Open Thunderbird
- Click on the "Tools" menu at the top
- Click on "Account Settings"
- Click on "Outgoing Server SMTP"
- Highlight "smtp.ocsnet.net"
- Click "Edit"
- Change the port number from 25 to 587
- Check the box for "Use name and password" and enter your email user name
Mac OSX 10.4.X
- Open apple mail
- Click on Preferences under "mail" in upper left hand corner of screen
- Email = Your user name @ocsnet.net
- Full name = Your full name
- Incoming mail server = mail.ocsnet.net
- Username = Your user name @ocsnet.net
- Password = Your Password
- Click on arrows at end of "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
- Select "Edit Server List"
- Enter "smtp.ocsnet.net" in Outgoing Mail Server box
- Enter "587" in server port window.
- Click on arrows at right of Authentication box and select "Password"
- Enter your user name and password
- Click on "OK"
- Close next window by clicking on red button in upper left of screen.
- Test system by sending a message to yourself
Mac OSX 10.5.X
- Open apple mail
- Click on Preferences under "mail" in upper left hand corner of screen
- Email = Your user name @ocsnet.net
- Full name = Your full name
- Incoming mail server = mail.ocsnet.net
- Username = Your user name @ocsnet.net
- Password = Your Password
- Click on arrows at end of "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
- Select "Edit Server List"
- Enter "smtp.ocsnet.net" in Outgoing Mail Server box
- Click on "Advanced" at center, right
- Click on "Use Custom Port: and enter 587
- Click on arrows at right of Authentication box and select "Password"
- Enter your user name and password
- Click on "OK"
- Close next window by clicking on red button in upper left of screen.
- Test system by sending a message to yourself

Networks/Servers
This change needs to be made on any server or workstation configured to send email directly to smtp.ocsnet.net. Just follow the instructions above for the specific email client program you're using, or contact OCS for further assistance.
