I considered Clearwire and two local WISPs as alternatives to Hughes satellite. Clearwire had made quite a push in the area, but was not available at the time. I had spoken with several pleased customers of OCSNet and that tipped the scale. OCS offers wireless plans from $49.95. I chose a plan for $79.95 which includes a 1.5Mb connection (max, both directions). The connection has consistently performed well, and almost without exception at the full promised speed. Uptime has been excellent. Once I got a site survey done, installation was quick and done by a fellow who knew his job well. The link tested to 5Mb with 0.1% packet loss. There has been little reason to deal with OCS tech support, but the company has been very responsive to inquiries. I think a person could become accustomed to working with a local company that's just down the road a ways. After some 4 years I'm still pleased and a happy camper. Posted on DSLReports.com.
